Inventing the Energy Future: Bill Gates and Steven Chu Have a Plan : Greentech Media.

I’ve added this second link to the energy conversation between Bill Gates and Stephen Chu yesterday because it expands the content of the conversation. Mr Gates links the intensity of energy use to the improvement of the human condition, particularly as it relates to the world’s poor.

In the last paragraph, Arun Majumder the director of ARPA-E states, “If we don’t change the way we use energy we’ll have an environmental catastrophe on our hands.” I would propose another way of looking at this, it won’t matter what energy sources/systems we switch to if we don’t change how we use energy. In other words, it is not just the supply but the demand that must be changed.
